Every year in October, Keep Durham Beautiful partners with the City of Durham Stormwater Services Division and the Durham County Soil and Water Conservation District to promote and support North Carolina Big Sweep.

NC Big Sweep is a nonprofit organization that conducts year-round edcuation to prevent litter and coordinates a state-wide cleanup of North Carolina's watersheds.  Volunteers from all 100 counties in our state work together to rid our streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, and beaches of litter.

Every year groups from around Durham plan and carry out cleanups with the help of KDB and our partner organizations.  Register here for NC Big Sweep 2009 on the first Saturday in October - this year it will be on October 3rd. But if that doesn't work with your schedule, don't worry, any cleanup in October is part of Big Sweep!

Keep Durham Beautiful, and all our partners, encourage good environemental stewardship of our watersheds all year round, so let us know if you know of a stream that needs cleaning or you want to volunteer to help!
