Adopt-A-Park and Adopt-A-Trail

Did you know that there are over 60 parks and more than 15 miles of trails in Durham?  That’s a lot of greenway to enjoy!  If you want to make a difference to your favorite park or trail why not adopt!  Or you can make a donation dedicated to improving your favorite park.

Adopt!

KDB partners with the City of Durham Parks and Recreation Department to give people an opportunity to adopt parks and trails.

When you adopt you can help the city maintain and keep up with issues in the greenways.  Planting flowers, picking up litter, reporting damage, raking leaves, and pruning tree limbs are just a few of the ways that people have helped their local parks and trails. And they had fun, too!

Click on the City of Durham's Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-A-Trail Program to see what you can do to adopt a park or trail today!  You can also contact Beth Gessner at 919-560-4355 or elizabeth.gessner@durhamnc.gov.

Donate!

If you have a favorite park or trail that you want to help, but you don't have time to adopt, make a donation!

Keep Durham Beautiful works closely with the City of Durham Parks & Recreation Department for park improvement. Often individuals give donations, and groups fundraise for their favorite greenway.

Donation given to KDB can be earmarked for a specific park or trail, and even a specific project in a specific greenway.  KDB and Durham Parks and Recreation will work with you to facilitate the use of your donation in a way that you like and that the park or trail can really use.

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

"CPTED is the proper design and effective use of the built environment which may lead to a reduction in the fear and incidence of crime, and an improvement of the quality of life." - National Crime Prevention Institute

Keep Durham Beautiful, Durham Parks & Recreation, City of Durham's General Services Department and the Durham Police Department partner to ensure that all parks are designed, built, and maintained in a way that increases the safety of the people using the park.  If you think your park has some problems contact us and we can arrange a CPTED review of your park.  We can show you ways that you can improve the safety of the way you use the park and how the park works with you to keep you and your children safe.
