The Durham Litterbug tries to flag down a ride to anywhere, because litterbugs aren't welcome in Durham anymore!Adopt-A-Stop

KDB partnered with the Durham Area Transit Authority to create the Adopt-A-Stop program. Groups or individuals sign a contract to adopt a bus stop somewhere in Durham.  When you sign the agreement you are agreeing to inspect and clean the bus stop AT LEAST twice a month. Read more about the process here.

KDB provides you with everything you need to keep the stop looking clean and friendly; safety vest, litter grabber, and gloves.  When you inspect the bus stop you don't just pick up litter.  You also look for damage to the shelter, graffiti or overflowing trash cans.  You don't have to fix these things, you just pick up the trash and report the rest so we can take care of it.

Pick a bus stop or stops near your home so it's easy to do!  We will put a sign on the stop that tells people that this stop is cared for by a responsible person who is working hard to Keep Durham Beautiful!

Durham Litterbug

Did you know there was a Litterbug in Durham?  He used to litter our bus stops and streets all across the Durham, but he has been chased away by hard working Adopt-A-Spot Volunteers.

The Durham Litterbug used non-recyclable, non-biodegradable styrophoam cups!!   Adopt-A-Stop Sign     The Durham Litterbug fails to convince KDB volunteers NOT to pick up litter.
