Tarp Day 2009
Date: Saturday, February 7, 2009
Time: Noon to 1:30p.m.
Place: Northgate Mall, near Chick-fil-A
Tarp Day was an educational event to remind people that we must all take responsibility for our environment. One of the biggest sources of litter is out of vehicles. In order to educate and inspire Durham citizens, once a year Keep Durham Beautiful gives away free tarps to pickup truck owners. Tarps were handed out by Mayor William V. “Bill” Bell, County Commission Chairman Michael D. Page, County Sherriff Lt. Williams, Deputy City Manager Ted Voorhees, and Police Chief Jose Lopez. Other attendees were Keep Durham Beautiful Board Chair Sylvia Le Goff, Vice Chair Marge Nordstrom, KDB Board Members David Harris, Dawn Dudley and KDB Board Member and Hostess Ginny Bowman. Our Mistress of Ceremonies was Ms. Brenda Ewdinger, Executive Director of North Carolina Keep America Beautiful, our state affiliate.
