Join us for an exciting outdoor adventure to celebrate Creek Week at the Duke Forest Shepherd Nature Trail! This family-friendly event, perfect for ages 6 and up, invites you to explore the wonders of a local creek and have hands-on experience discovering creek critters which could include amphibians and macroinvertebrates. Led by expert and Duke Professor Dr. Ron Grunwald and dedicated staff from Durham City and County Stormwater, participants will learn about the vital role of creeks in our ecosystem and how we can protect them for future generations.
Get your hands wet as you explore the creek, search for hidden critters, and gain valuable insights into the importance of creek conservation. Bring your curiosity, your sense of adventure, and prepare for an unforgettable day outdoors!
Please wear water safe shoes and clothes suitable for getting dirty. Stay on paths and follow the group leader. Be mindful of wildlife and only handle critters as directed- do not remove any wildlife from the park. Feel free to bring water and/or snacks, but ensure that any trash leaves with you.
