request a tree
Keep Durham Beautiful is distributing 500 native trees each year to residents, community institutions, and small businesses in areas with low tree coverage. If you or your organization would like to plant trees in your communities, whether at homes, schools, places of worship, or other gathering spaces, please let us know!
There are multiple ways to receive a tree. Depending on where you’d like to plant it, the following options are available.
Request a street tree from the City. The Urban Forestry team will plant a tree on the city right-of-way, typically between the sidewalk and street in front of your home.
Fill out the interest form to indicate your individual interest in receiving a free tree to plant yourself at your home, organization, or business. Survey responses guide KDB’s planning so that we can host giveaway events in areas with community interest. We’ll contact you with updates on nearby giveaways.
Contact us to coordinate a giveaway event in your community. If you know there is a high level of interest in your area, we may be able to collaborate immediately to organize a giveaway!
